📥Increase Receiving Capacity

This is an essential task as it ensures that you can always receive a payment. But no worries there are several options depending on your preferences.

Request a channel with receiving capacity included.

You can choose to open a channel in Alby Hub by selecting Olympus or Flow as ‘Channel Peers’. Flow will provide you with 100,000 sats receiving capacity and Olympus LSPS1 with 1,000,000 sats.

Ask family, friends and other node runners

You can ask people to open channels to your node. Simply send them your node ID which is the first string behind the ‘Advanced’ button on the ‘Liquidity’ screen.

If you are not connected to a lightning node runner community yet, you can have a look at Lighting Network Plus and join one of their swaps here.

Create receiving capacity yourself

That’s probably the most fun option. If your spending balance is high enough you can simply spend some of your sats in these apps.

Benefits: You create more receiving capacity and you also support the bitcoin ecosystem as a whole.

Send to another lightning wallet

If you have a another lightning wallet or your exchange supports lightning deposits you can send that sats from your spending balance to that wallet. You can send a payment via your Alby dashboard, the Alby Browser Extension or any other wallet interface connected to Alby Hub.

Send to another onchain wallet

If you have a bitcoin onchain wallet you can use a swap service to move our sats from the lightning network into a bitcoin onchain wallet. You can send a payment to a swap service (e.g. boltz.exchange) via your Alby dashboard, the Alby Browser Extension or any other wallet interface connected to Alby Hub.
