How can I share my Alby Hub with a friend who is a podcaster or musician

This feature is experimental. Please use it with care and share your feedback. We want to make it better for you. 🙏

1. Open a text editor (e.g. MS Word) and paste this exact text:

2. Visit https://my.albyhub.com/#/apps/new?isolated=true and enter the name of the podcaster or musician. Click Next.

You just created an isolated app connection for the person (we still need to find the right word here 😉). Adding a name helps to identify the app connection among others.

3. Click Copy pairing secret.

4. Paste your pairing secret in the text editor directly after the string in step 2.

The whole link: https://getalby.com/nwc/new#nostr+walletconnect://ea248... should be on a single line.

Copy this link and share it with your friend - they can use the isolated app connection as a wallet for their newly created Alby account.

As a consequence, your friend is using your Hub to send and receive payments. They start with a zero bitcoin balance and can only spend what they receive. They even have an own lightning address 🤩

5. Make sure to invite your friend to create an Alby account

Go to getalby.com -> Dashboard -> Settings -> Invite a Friend. Your friend will receive an invite code to create an account. Together with the link from step 4 they can complete the setup of their Alby account.

6. Go to https://my.albyhub.com/#/apps

6.1 Find the app you just created.

6.2 Click on it to open, and then copy the id from the info card.

7. Here is your friend's value block.

7.1 Set NAME to the name of the lightning address of the user (ask them after they create their account)

7.2 Replace YOUR_NODE_ID from https://my.albyhub.com/#/channels -> advanced -> copy the node ID

7.3 Replace ID_VALUE with the value you got from step 6

This is currently difficult to do until 1.6.0 is released because circular Keysend payments do not work. You can ask us to help.
