You can send satoshis from another bitcoin wallet to top up the balance of your Alby Account.
Lightning Network wallets (Bitcoin Layer 2)
The bitcoin lightning network is great. It allows you to send bitcoin from any lightning wallet app out there to your Alby wallet... and vice versa! You will find a selection of mobile lightning wallets here.
There are two ways to receive bitcoin in your Alby wallet:
Enter your lightning address [yourname]@getalby.com into the other app. (You can customize your personal address! Go to: Lightning Address)
Create and enter a lightning invoice into the other app. Learn here how to create an invoice.
Bitcoin (onchain) wallets
The service of Lightning swaps is currently not available due to maintenance. On-chain deposits and withdrawals are not available. We hope to offer it soon again, please look for another swap service solution.
The lightning network (LN) is a decentralized, peer-to-peer network which allows users to transfer bitcoin off-chain instantaneously with very low transaction fees. The lightning network is built on top of the bitcoin network, and is thus called a layer two solution.
Pure bitcoin (on-chain) wallets (such as these) use different type of network than the Lightning Network. Still, we can use them to top up the balance of your Alby wallet.
The process of exchanging bitcoin on-chain to the lightning network is called 'swap'. To see how to deposit sats (bitcoins) from regular on-chain wallet to your Alby lightning wallet, watch this video guide:

Step 1: Log in to dashboard on getalby.com
Step 2: Click 'Receive'
Step 3: Here you will find your on-chain bitcoin address associated with your Alby account. You can copy this address into the bitcoin wallet you want to send bitcoin from and it will be sent to your Alby bitcoin lightning wallet.
Please Note: This is not an instant transaction and may take a couple of minutes for your bitcoin to appear in your Alby wallet.
